TAKE A WALK BY THE RAPIDS
Pajakkakoski (duckboards from the bridge).
Lentuankoski (pathway accessible to wheelchairs). The cottage
by the rapids highlights the local nature features. Rowing boats and a tepee for hire. Further information Petola Visitor Centre, tel. 0205 64 6380.

GO FISHING
in rapids!

The nearest rapids are Pajakkakoski rapids near the Church and
Library. Others include Akonkoski, Saarikoski, and Lentua rapids.

The nearest fishing grounds are on Lammasjärvi beside the Kontio School and the Kuhmo Arts Centre.

GO HIKING
Choose a different route each day!

Less than half an hour's drive from the centre of Kuhmo:
Kämärä: forest trail 2.5 km. (Observation platform on the small Rytilampi lake).
Lauttavaara Nature School forest: 2.5 km, circular trail.
Lentua trail (nature trail) 6.6 km.
Jämäsvaara trail network: c. 15 km.
Syväjärvi recreation fishing area: hiking trails of 1, 4 and 5 km.
Jauhovaara: trails of 1.5 and 3.5 km.
Sininen (Blue) trail: total length 21 km, circular trail 13 km.

Other routes:
UKK-route: trails totalling about 240 km.
Iso-Palonen: hiking trails of 3.5 km, 4.5 km and 14.5 km.
Elimyssalo: hiking trail of 12 km.
Kilpelänkangas trail: 3.5 km in Winter War battlefields.
Teerisuo trail: 11 km.
Jonkerinsalo trail: 4.6 km.
Kieverrys trail: 5 km.
Petranpolku: 44 km, links the UKK-route and Jämäsvaara trail network with the Karhunpolku trail from Lieksa.
Niva trails: 17 km, choice of 6.5 km, 4.5 km and 6 km.
Geological nature trail at Härmänkylä 3.5 km. You can also
