Courses 2010

1. Master classes for piano, violin, cello and chamber music

Solo tuition for advanced students and tuition in chamber music for ready-formed ensembles. Teachers: Konstantin Bogino (piano and chamber music), the Danel Quartet (Chamber Music), Mihaela Martin and Hagai Shaham (violin), Nobuko Imai (viola) and Frans Helmerson (cello). Tuition will amount to 4 x 60 minutes, except for Martin, Imai and Helmerson, 2 x 60 minutes. Members of the public will be free to observe the lessons. 2. Music courses

Private lessons and tuition in chamber music for ready-formed ensembles (see list of faculty and further information below). The tuition will amount to 5 x 60 minutes.

3. Chamber music and composition workshops

Teachers: Konstantin Bogino, Alexander Gebert and Hagai Shaham (chamber music) and Yuval Gotlibovich (composition). Students in the workshops will prepare chamber works for performance at the concert on July 20. The workshop leaders will themselves play in the ensembles. The aim of the composition workshop is to prepare a work (preferably for solo viola or with a strong viola presence) and its performance. Students in the chamber music workshops will also receive ½hours from the teacher of their choice.

Workshop students must be prepared to be in Kuhmo at least from July 14 to 20, depending on their choice of teacher.

Course fees:

Individual tuition and master classes € 510 / person

Additional fee for private tuition for ensemble member € 255 / person

The fees include tuition, free admission to the concerts, full board and accommodation in classrooms sleeping 4–8. SCHOLARSHIPS

Three scholarships will be awarded for the Kuhmo Music Courses.

A Kainuun Sanomat Scholarship will be awarded to gifted soloists or ensembles attending the music courses. The total scholarship sum of €1,000 will be divided between several applicants. Applicants for this scholarship must enclose a demo recording (CD, MD, DVD or DAT) and may, if they wish, supply references.

A Kainuun Puhelinosuuskunta Scholarship worth € 250 will be awarded to a gifted soloist attending the music courses. Applicants for this scholarship must enclose a demo recording (CD, MD, DVD or DAT) and may, if they wish, supply references.

A Kees Wiebenga Scholarship will be awarded at the end of the courses to the best ensemble performing in the student concerts. The scholarship is worth €2,000 and cannot be applied for. It may be divided between one or more ensembles or awarded to a student who has attended the Kuhmo Music Courses in previous years.

Applications for the Kainuun Sanomat and Kainuun Puhelinosuuskunta scholarship must be submitted with the application for the course.
