Lauri Honkavirta

Lauri Honkavirta, who was born in 1987, is a harpsichordist and pianist, who, at the end of a long period of study, has recently managed to bring up a family and make a living teaching. He studied the harpsichord at the Estonian Academy of Music under Imbi Tarum and gained a piano diploma under Lauri Väinmaa in 2011. At the Sibelius Academy he did a master's in the harpsichord in 2016 as a pupil of Anssi Mattila. Honkavirta is teacher of piano at the Music School of West Uusimaa and Kallio Music School in Helsinki, and teacher of harpsichord at the Helsinki Conservatory of Music, and privately, providing repertoire coaching for singers. While studying, Honkavirta gained much experience of performance with a diverse range of Finnish chamber music ensembles and orchestras. His love of music focuses mainly on the study of vocal music and working with singers at both instruments, as well as various interdisciplinary projects.
