Petteri Pitko

Harpsichordist Petteri Pitko frequently gives concerts as a soloist and chamber musician and plays in the Finnish Baroque Orchestra. His diverse repertoire ranges from early Baroque to first performances of new works. He is artistic designer of the Finnish Baroque Orchestra and a lecturer in ancient music at the Novia University of Applied Sciences in Pietarsaari. Pitko has performed as soloist with the Tapiola Sinfonietta and the Central Ostrobothnian Chamber Orchestra and has played chamber music at numerous music festivals in Finland, in different parts of Europe, including the Canary Islands, in China and in South Korea. He has also worked with such orchestras as the Berlin Philharmonic, Akademie für Alte Musik Berlin, Zurich Chamber Orchestra, Finnish Radio Symphony Orchestra, Tampere Philharmonic, Stavanger Symphony Orchestra and Ensemble Resonanz under the direction of Simon Rattle, Peter Rundel, Beat Furrer, Susanna Mälkki and Hannu Lintu. Pitko studied the harpsichord at the Sibelius Academy, the Berlin University of the Arts, and in Paris, his main teachers being Mitzi Meyerson and Huguette Dreyfus.
