Ukko Pietilä

Pietilä then left the Institute to become a pupil of Jorma Valjakka in the Sibelius Academy Youth Department, before moving on to his current seat of learning, the Berlin University of the Arts, where his teacher is Washington Barella. He has in addition attended numerous masterclasses, the very first of which was Nicholas Daniel's course at the Kuhmo Chamber Music Festival. Pietilä has performed as soloist with the Finnish Radio Symphony Orchestra and the Sibelius Academy Youth Department Orchestra. He was also guest principal oboe with the Finnish Radio Symphony Orchestra in 2016. He gained some experience of competitions in the Crusell International Oboe Competition in 2014.
